Lath Boykin is beginning his 3rd year in China Spring ISD and 11th year in public education in the great state of Texas. He is the principal at China Spring Middle School, this is his first year. Prior to accepting the role of principal of China Spring Middle School he was the assistant principal at the middle school campus. Prior to working in China Spring, Mr. Boykin worked in Waco ISD, West ISD, and New Caney ISD as a teacher and coach.
Mr. Boykin grew up in Meridian, TX, and graduated from Meridian High School in 2004. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology from Tarleton State University in 2009 and later attended Tarleton to complete his Master in Education Administration degree in 2017.
Mr. Boykin met his wife, Brittany, in 2005 and talked her into marrying him in 2010. Brittany later blessed Mr. Boykin with two beautiful daughters, Laiken (6) and Brilyn (2). They enjoy spending time outdoors as a family.
The 2020-2021 school year will mark Mrs. Brown's first year at China Spring Middle School as the assistant principal.
This year begins Mrs. Brown's twelfth year in education. She started her teaching career in her hometown of Midlothian ISD where she was a high school English teacher and coach. She also taught and coached at Lake Travis High School and Southlake Carroll Middle School before making the move into administration. Mrs. Brown began her administrative career as an Assistant Principal at Keller High School and later an Associate Principal at both Nacogdoches High School and Kennedale High School. Later, she became a principal at Hillside Elementary in Canyon ISD.
Mrs. Brown's education includes earning her certificate for teaching English Language Arts and Reading while at Texas State University-San Marcos. In addition, she earned a Master of Arts specializing in English from Texas A&M University-Commerce. Continuing her education, she earned her Principal Certification through the Educational Leadership certificate program at Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas.
Mrs. Brown is married to her husband, Jake, who joined the Baylor family in February. Mrs. Brown and her daughter, Harper (3) have excitedly cheered on the Bears ever since.
